ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester Americans’ goalie Ukko Pekka Luukkonen is the latest AHL Player of The Week after stopping 112 of the 117 shots he faced in three games.

That included all 32 in the last game, a 4-0 win over the Cleveland Monsters on Saturday. It was his first career AHL shutout. In Wednesday’s 5-1 win over the Wilkes-Barrie/Scranton Penguins, the 2017 second-round pick was the first star.

In eight games this season, Luukkonen has posted a 3.37 goals-against average and a 0.891 save percentage. It all comes a year after he made his NHL debut with the Sabres, a season in which he played four games.
