Section V playoff roundup; Oakfield-Alabma/Elba wins first Class D. title

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — High School Football across Section V continues to wind down with the path to the Carrier Dome.

Four games were played on Saturday.

In Class AA, McQuaid Jesuit defeated Aquinas, 28-14. Parris Smiley outscored the opponents by himself, hauling in three touchdowns.

Batavia won Class B in a close one, 22-14 over Honeyoye Falls-Lima.

In 8-man, Red Jacket repeated as champions, defeating Frewsburg, 48-6.

Two season deciding games were played on Friday night.

In the Class A. State qualifier, Canandaigua defeated U. Prep, 16-14, thanks in part to a go-ahead field goal late in the 4th quarter. With the win, the Braves stay undefeated on the year. They weren’t the only ones celebrating though.

Over in Class D., Oakfield-Alabama/Elba made history, winning their first section title. The Aggies did it beating Avon, 26-21. Senior, Gaige Armbrewster opened the scoring for the Aggies, who keep their season alive.
