Shootout on West Ave leaves one dead, one critical

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – One man is dead and another in critical condition after a shootout late Friday night on West Ave.

Rochester Police say they responded to a call at 11:45 p.m. behind the P.I. Lounge on 493 West Ave where they found a man in his late 30’s suffering from a gunshot wound. He is in critical condition at URMC.

A second call came in for a man shot in a vehicle on Day Place. There, they found a second victim, also a man in his 30’s, dead in his car. Police believe he too was struck in the parking lot on West Ave during a shootout where almost two dozen shots were fired.

Police say there were several dozen people in the parking lot during the shooting and are asking anyone who was there to contact 911, the Major Crimes Unit at 585-428-7157 or majorcrimes@cityofrochester.gov, or Crime Stoppers at 585-423-9300.
