Police: Man facing multiple charges for bank robbery, driving stolen car

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— Rochester Police say a man is facing several charges in connection to a bank robbery in the city on Wednesday.

RPD says Jason Shafer robbed the Canandaigua National Bank on Alexander Street, but was later picked up by officers on Thursday. They tell us Shafer was also driving a stolen car that was found in Brighton. He was caught with the help of Brighton Police.

Shafer was charged with second-degree robbery and fourth-degree grand larceny for the bank incident and then another fourth-degree grand larceny charge for the stolen car.

Shafer is on probation for a prior conviction and police are not sure if he will face additional charges for any violations of the probation.
