VICTOR, N.Y. (WHEC) — Two men are facing charges after the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says they tried to shoplift from Dick’s Sporting Goods, but the getaway driver ended up backing into an occupied New York State Police car instead.

It happened on Wednesday at the Dick’s at Eastview Mall at around 7:30 p.m.

Police say Rashad Cordell, 21, of Rochester, and another suspect who they were not able to arrest, tried to get away with more than $2,000 in merchandise, but the getaway driver, who they say was Dekesiad Binon, 18, of Rochester, hit the patrol car instead.

The trooper’s car was severely damaged.

Binon was charged with fourth degree grand larceny and second degree reckless endangerment and Cordell was charged with grand larceny.
