Monroe County Hospital unveils new C-Mill treadmill

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Monroe County Hospital is breaking out some cutting-edge technology to help its patients prepare for life after physical rehab.

Wednesday it unveiled its new C-Mill treadmill.

The system uses virtual reality to simulate real-life situations for patients trying to get readjusted to normal home life.

"When we’re out in the community there’s always obstacles or other folks around us,” said Director of Rehabilitation Kristen Rund. “At home, there’s maybe clutter you need to go around. So this really gives us the opportunity to practice those real-life situations by walking around the obstacles or stepping over obstacles, weight shifting side-to-side to really have people ready for home discharge."

MCH is the first long-term care facility in the state to use the treadmill.

The purchase comes thanks to a large donation from the West Herr Auto Group.
