Car crashes under U of R River Campus Bridge

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Two passengers are being hospitalized after their car crashed into a divider under a bridge near the University of Rochester campus on Friday morning.

Rochester police officers responded to a call for a severe accident at around 2:15 a.m., when they found a 2017 Volkswagen was a smashed front. The car collided with the middle divider on Elmwood Avenue, below the U of R River Campus Bridge.

An ambulance took the driver and a 21-year-old passenger to Strong Hospital. Both are expected to survive. RPD said the car was traveling westbound on Elmwood Avenue when the driver lost control.
