Canandaigua woman dead after being struck by vehicle in Hopewell

HOPEWELL, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Canandaigua woman is dead after a crash on State Routes 5 and 20 in the Town of Hopewell that happened on Wednesday.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said 74-year-old Marjorie Henninger was crossing the street at around 4:15 p.m. after visiting a farm stand when she was hit by a pickup truck that was headed east.
Henninger was treated at the scene but was later flown to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight. She died from her injuries.
Deputies ticked the pickup driver, 34-year-old Joshua Modzel, with third degree aggravated unlicensed operation.
Deputies say the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office is helping investigate the exact cause of death and the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
