Yellow Alert for heavy rain to start the weekend

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The First Alert Weather Team has hoisted a Yellow Alert for overnight Friday into Saturday. This will be two-fold: Another round of heavy rain will be moving in Friday night, tapering by Saturday morning.

The good news is the worst of the rain will be falling overnight, when most are asleep. So that impact will be minimal. But, rainfall amounts may exceed 1" for many areas across western New York, which may lead to another round of flooding following Tuesday’s heavy rain event. In addition to this, many families and kids are likely hoping to be outside and having fun with Halloween activities. While the steadiest rain will be gone, scattered showers will continue off and on, and will likely have an impact on those outdoor plans.

If you do have plans outside, it is a good idea to keep checking back on the latest timing of the forecast, and the First Alert Weather Team will provide constant updates on-air and online. Meteorologist Alex Bielfeld will be tracking the departure of the steadiest rain, and provide the latest rainfall totals on News10NBC Today, starting at 6 on Saturday morning.

For some good news — it still appears the trick-or-treat forecast for Sunday evening should be dry for those little ghosts and goblins. Temperatures around sunset on Halloween evening should be near 50.
