Stolen vehicle led RPD on pursuit in city almost crashing into a house
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — On Saturday afternoon, a vehicle was stolen in Irondequoit during a robbery near the area of 2000 East Ridge Road and ended in Rochester nearly crashing into a house.
Rochester police say that the vehicle began to flee from Irondequoit police officers and a pursuit ensued. Rochester police officers took over the pursuit in the city.
According to RPD, in the area of Ontario Street, the suspects came to a rest in the vehicle after almost crashing into a house.
Police say that the driver fled the scene and was then taken into custody nearby, while the front passenger was taken into custody at the scene.
To ensure there was no structural damage done to the resident, Rochester Fire Department responded to the home on Ontario Street for inspection. Authorities say there may be some minor damage to the residential home but nothing structural.
The two suspects, whose names are not yet released, are a 49-year-old city resident and a 48-year-old city resident. According to PRD, one is being charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd and the other is being charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree.
