ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— How would you spend $144 million? Well, you can weigh in on that very topic at a public hearing Thursday night on how Monroe County should spend the $144-million it received in federal COVID relief money.

Last week, we told you the county received the funds by way of the American Rescue Plan Act, and it plans to use the money towards two initiatives, including what County Executive Adam Bello says is the county’s first comprehensive plan in roughly 40 years.

The plan will be called "Plan Forward." The other plan, "Bring Monroe Back" will build on previous work, and will focus on six key priority areas. An online survey has also been launched.

Thursday’s hearing will be run by the county’s Black and Asian Caucus, and it starts at 6 p.m. at the Gantt Rec Center, 700 North Street.

Other hearings include.

  • Wednesday, Oct.27 at the Millennium Lodge at Greece Canal Park
  • Wednesday, Nov.10 at Joseph C. Wilson Magnet High School
  • Wednesday, Dec.1 at the Grandview Lodge at Powder Mills Park
  • Wednesday, Dec.8 "Virtual event"
