Historic synagogue in Rochester catches on fire

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A historic synagogue that’s been abandoned for years caught fire in Rochester on Friday.
The synagogue was placed on the national historic register in 2015. Firefighters responded to the temple around 9 a.m. on Friday morning to Joseph Avenue. Officials say the fire started in the basement and spread to the first floor. the cause is under investigation.
