Grandfather and grandchildren made it out safely after fire in Irondequoit

IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — Firefighters in Irondequoit battled a fire that started in a garage on Monday morning. The people inside the home, a grandfather and two grandchildren, were able to make it out safely.
Crews got the call around 2:30 a.m. for a report of a fire on Carry Lane between Fleetwood Drive and Brookdale Park. The garage was completely destroyed but firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to that part of the house.
The fire also burned through the power wires. Firefighters said it took 20 minutes to control.
The Red Cross is helping the family that was displaced by the fire. The Irondequoit Fire Department said the St Paul FD, Point Pleasant FD, Ridge Road FD, Irondequoit Ambulance, the Monroe County Fire Bureau, West Webster FD, Rochester FD, and North Greece FD all helped with the resposne to the fire.
