ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — New York Republican Party Chairman Nick Langworthy announced that he’s running for election in the newly redrawn 23rd Congressional District.

Langworthy’s website said he’s running as a conservative republican. He will run against business owner Richard Moon and former Buffalo School Board member Carl Paladino in the Republic primary.

41-year-old Langworthy has been the Republican chair since 2019. He shared a promotional video for his campaign on Twitter that mentions his relationship with former President Donald Trump.

Last week, current 27th District Representative Chris Jacobs announced he would not be running in the 23rd district as expected but would step down after serving out his term.

According to filings with the State Board of Elections, other Republicans on the list are Michael Sigler and Richard Moon.

The new 23rd Congressional District encompasses 7 counties, including Steuben, Allegany, and Cattaraugus Counties.
