ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Two police officers visited the hospital Monday after police responded to a call for a domestic incident involving a man who was violating an order of protection at the 4500 block of Lake Avenue.

It started at around 11 a.m. Police say responding officers were told by a 31-year-old female resident that the man was still inside.

Police say officers told the man that he was violating an order of protection by being there, and that’s when the man "physically escalated the situation". The officers called for backup.

Police say he "became physically assaultive to the officers" but they were able to take him into custody safely following "a use of force".

The suspect was taken to an area hospital where police say he is expected to be treated and released.

Both officers were taken to area hospitals, where they were treated and released.

Police say Bruce J. Miles, 32, of Rochester was arrested and charged with second degree burglary, second degree assault, criminal contempt and resisting arrest.

The Police say the victim of the domestic incident was not hurt.
