NYS police investigating Lake Avenue car crash

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – State police are investigating a serious crash on the city’s north side.

It happened Friday night at the area of Lake Avenue and Burley Road.

NYS Police say a state trooper attempted to stop a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser on Lake Avenue for not having license plates. The driver shut off their headlights and sped off.

Police found the vehicle shortly after at the scene of a crash. The driver, 29-year-old Adam C. Schafer, crossed into on-coming traffic and hit another car head-on. Schafer was brought to Strong Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The person in the other car involved in the crash was also brought to Strong Hospital, and his injuries are serious but non-life-threating.

Police say that criminal charges are pending.
