Run the Roc: Runner’s Expo held Friday ahead of Rochester 5K and Half Marathon

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester 5K and Half Marathon is this weekend! Runners were able to start getting their gear ready and everything picked up Friday as part of the Runner’s Expo.

The expo was at Fleet Feet at the Culver Road Armory in Rochester. Runners were able to pick up their racing packets and there was also several vendors on tap.

The store will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The marathon’s starting line is on Maplewood Drive in Maplewood Park, by the tennis courts. The Finish Line is located at Frontier Field, 1 Morrie Silver Way in Rochester. The run will begin at 7:40 a.m., but runners must line up starting at 7:15 a.m.

Morrie Silver Way will be closed from 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25 to 12 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26 from Oak Street to Verona Street.

The following roads will be closed on Sunday, Sept. 26 for the marathon:

  • Approx. 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.:
    • Maplewood Drive in Rochester from Lake Avenue to Gorsline Street.
    • Maplewood Avenue in Rochester from Maplewood Drive to the dead end at the rose gardens.
    • Bridgeview Drive in Rochester from Route 104 to Keehl Street.
    • Maplewood Drive in Rochester from Keehl Street to Lake Avenue.
  • Approx. 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.:
    • Petten Street in Rochester from Lake Avenue to the Genesee River.
  • Approx. 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.:
    • No southbound travel on Thomas Avenue in Irondequoit.
    • Delays crossing St. Paul Boulevard, mainly for side streets west of St. Paul Boulevard, especially between 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • Approx. 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.:
    • Driving Park Bridge.
    • Smith Street Bridge.
    • Cataract Street from St. Paul Boulevard to the dead end.
    • Morrie Silver Way from Verona Street to State Street.
    • Platt Street from State Street to Mill Street.
    • Plymouth Avenue from Allen to Brown Street.
    • State Street between Brown and Allen Street.

The O’Rorke Bridge will remain closed and not be raised for boat traffic from 4 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
