Rochester’s Washington Grove inducted into Old Growth Forest Network

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A piece of untouched land in Rochester was formally inducted into the Old Growth Forest Network Thursday.
Washington Grove, a patch of oak-hickory forest on the eastern edge of Cobbs Hill Reservoir, is now protected in perpetuity.
Mayor Lovely Warren, Councilmember Mary Lupien and the Friends of Washington Grove gathered to celebrate Thursday.
Becoming part of the Old Growth Forest Network makes it easier to obtain resources to preserve the forest.

With its inductions, Washington Grove became the thirteenth forest in New York State to join the Old Growth Forest Network.
The network was founded in 2013 and includes more than 140 forests in 25 states.
