First Alert Weather: Thunderstorms may interrupt our nice weather

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Today’s weather was best described at a “Chamber of Commerce” type of day for Rochester. Low humidity, bright sunshine and comfortable temperatures were the right ingredients that made for a near-perfect day.

However, we expect changes will slowly take hold by later tonight. Clouds will be on increase later this evening with the threat of a few thundershowers on the increase after midnight – especially west of Rochester. It appears these storms will likely diminish in coverage and intensity before arriving in Western New York.

The News10NBC First Alert Weather Team will keep you informed of any changes in this forecast. The weather will not be as cool as last night with the low temperature in the mid-60s. Your Thursday will bring a higher probability of showers and maybe a thunderstorm for the morning, but with the passage of a cold front, most of that rain will move east of the Genesee Valley by the afternoon. Look for partial sunshine to develop and turning breezy for the remainder of the day. In addition, the humidity will fall with the temperature in the mid-70s.

Thursday and Friday will feature cooler than normal conditions and with lower humidity, there will be a hint of fall in the air. Both days the mercury will only rise to within a few degrees of 70. It appears Thursday will bring a few spotty showers with more sunshine expected by Friday.

The weekend promises to bring noticeably warmer weather with readings in the upper 70s for Saturday and even into the lower 80s by Sunday. Right now it looks like summer-like weather is likely for the Bills football game in Buffalo on Sunday.
