CHILI, N.Y. — New York State Police say Robert Tincani, 75 of East Palestine, Ohio, died after a tractor-trailer stuck him in Chili on Monday night.

Troopers say it all started when a car struck a tractor-trailer carrying Amazon products that Tincani was driving in the westbound lanes of I-90, between the Rochester/Corning and LeRoy exit. After the crash, the drivers of both vehicles pulled over to the shoulder of the road the exchange information. That’s when another tractor-trailer collided with the car.

Troopers say the collision caused the second tractor-trailer, which was hauling recycled paper, to overturn and strike Tincani as he was walking back to his own vehicle.

Troopers responded around 7 p.m. and Tincani was declared dead at the scene. He was the only person injured and was taken to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Traffic on I-90 was diverted on Monday at the Rochester/Corning exit but the area has since reopened. Troopers are still investigating the crash.
