First Alert Weather: Cooler air and less humid this week

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Say so long to the warm and humid air for a while. Dew points continue to drop Monday night, with comfortable and seasonably warm air on Tuesday.

We will see a welcomed pattern change to end August and welcome in September. First, we continue to track Ida. Ida will continue to weaken as it moves further inland and is drawn northward. The remnants of Ida will bring heavy rain through the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys and as far north as Pennsylvania through mid-week.

The best chance of our area seeing any precipitation from Ida will be in the Southern Tier counties on Wednesday. Other than that, we’ll just see an increase in clouds Tuesday night into Wednesday as Ida passes by to our south.

As the tropical remnants pull away, we’ll see a clearing sky, leading to a mostly sunny sky on Thursday and Friday, but cooler air will be drawn southward from Canada. This means we’ll fall into the lower 70s for highs by the end of the week, with lows in the 50s – very comfortable!

Labor Day Weekend: Many consider Labor Day weekend the unofficial end of summer, and our weather will echo that! Saturday and Sunday will feature more seasonable air in the upper 70s, but a cold front will drop our temperatures below average by Labor Day and into much of next week.
