Car shot with 2-year-old inside during gunfight in Rochester; Police chase ends in Greece

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — About 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Rochester Police Officers who were in the area of Flower City Park and Dewey Avenue, heard multiple gunshots and saw two white Jeeps speed away from the scene. Officers tried to stop the vehicles, but neither one stopped. Police, along with help from Monroe County Sheriffs, and New York State Police chased both Jeeps. 

One of the Jeeps was chased into the Town of Greece and stopped at the intersection of Stone Road and Dewey Ave in Rochester, where an adult man was taken into custody. Officers lost the other Jeep, but learned that at a 37-year-old woman was dropped off at Rochester General Hospital. She is being treated for a gunshot wound to the upper body that is not life-threatening. After the jeep left the hospital, it was found on Jackson Street with bullet holes. A loaded gun was found on Route 104, that was thrown out during chase.

The investigation found that the shooting happened on Primrose Street and the Jeep found on Jackson Street was occupied by the female victim, an adult male, and a 2-year-old child. The man and child were not injured.
