ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Police say a Rochester man has died from the injuries he suffered in a fiery car crash Friday morning.

Officers announced 26-year-old Matthew Bien-Aime died at Strong Memorial Hospital the same day as the crash.

Police say Bien-Aime was driving north on Lake Avenue when he struck the center median and crossed into the opposite lane just past the Lexington Avenue intersection. His car then hit a traffic light pole and then a building before bursting into flames.

Crews originally responded to the scene just before 5 a.m.

Crews from RPD and the Rochester Fire Department found him still inside the burning car before rescuing him from the flames. Several firefighters could be seen shaken up and visibly upset.

Police say Bien-Aime had severe burns to his entire body.
