Police: Man fighting for his life after car fire on Lake Avenue

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester Police say a man is fighting for his life after he was trapped in a car that was on fire Friday morning.

Crews responded to the scene at Lake and Lexington avenues just before 5 a.m.

When police got to the scene with the Rochester Fire Department, they found the man inside the burning car. Crews were able to remove him from the car.

News10NBC’s crew on the scene have seen firefighters shaken up and visibly upset.

The man was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the car struck a building, but the building was not damaged.

Lake Avenue is shut down from Driving Park to Glenwood Avenue, but is expected to be opened back up soon.
