Deputies: Avon man facing additional burglary, robbery, larceny charges

LIMA, N.Y. (WHEC) — An Avon man is once again facing burglary, robbery and petit larceny charges after Livingston County Sheriff’s Deputies say he stole from an 84-year-old man’s home.

Deputies say the robbery happened on Thursday, July 8 at around 3:45 a.m. at a home on Lake Avenue in the Village of Lima.

The homeowner was home at the time and interrupted the burglary as it was happening. Deputies say the suspect pushed the 84-year-old homeowner over, and the man activated his medical alarm.

Deputies responded to the medical alarm and found an open window at the house. When deputies entered the house, they say they found the homeowner on the ground, unable to get up.

After deputies helped the man up, he told them the suspect stole several things, including jewelry and cash.

While deputies were investigating the burglary, a similar one happened on July 18 on North Avon Road in the Town of Avon.

Deputies arrested Justis D. Watts, 22, for that July 18 incident and charged him with four counts of first-degree felony burglary, multiple counts of first-degree felony robbery, as well as an assault charge, a criminal gun charge, and multiple other charges including menacing, and grand, and petit larceny.

Deputies say after that arrest, they began looking into his involvement in the July burglary.

On July 30, deputies charged Watts with felony second degree burglary, felony third degree robbery and petit larceny for the July incident.

Watts was already being held at the Livingston County Jail for the July 18 burglary when he was arrested for the July 8 burglary.

An additional $5,000 cash/credit bail or $10,000 bond was added on, and the victim was issued an order of protection against Watts according to deputies.
