ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — More than $10 million in emergency rent relief has been dealt out to more than 2,000 people in the CIty of Rochester and Monroe County, leaders announced Friday.

The relief is a part of the Monroe County/City of Rochester Emergency Rental Assistance Program, which was launched earlier this year. The data released is as of July 14.

County Executive Adam Bello and Mayor Lovely Warren said in a joint statement another 2,680 applications for relief are pending.

The program is targeted toward low-income households who have lost income through the COVID-19 pandemic. It provides up to 12 months of back rent, and up to three months of future rent if you cannot afford ongoing rent. The program serves tenants in 43 ZIP codes in the county.

The city and county have almost $40 million set aside for funding. Residents can call 211 to apply for aid. You can also check out more information on the county’s website.
