Report: Broadway to require vaccination, masks in order to attend shows

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— if you want to attend a Broadway show, you’ll have to be vaccinated and wear a mask, the New York Times reported Friday.

Owners and operators told the Times some theaters will allow children who are ineligible to be vaccinated to attend shows, while other venues will not.

Audiences will have to wear masks, except when eating or drinking.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention made the recommendations Tuesday citing new information about the surging delta variant’s ability to spread among vaccinated people. Governor Cuomo said the state would be reviewing the CDC’s recommendations "closely."

As for Broadway, its baseline rules will be in place at least through October and apply to all 41 Broadway theaters.

To be clear, this is a Broadway-specific move.
