UPDATE: The Monroe County Sheriff’s office said Milagros Kykendall and Michael Kykendall, both 51, are the names of the two people who died in the murder-suicide at a home in Clarkson.
CLARKSON, N.Y. – A person killed their spouse and then took their own life in Clarkson on Monday.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies found the bodies of the married couple in the garage of a home on Sweden Walker Road between West Ridge Road and Roosevelt Highway.
Deputies responded to the home just before 1:30 p.m. after getting a 911 call asking for a welfare check on the couple. That’s when deputies found the bodies and determined that it was a murder-suicide. Both people were in their early 50s.
Sheriff’s Office Captain Pat Rojas confirmed a gun was used in this murder-suicide and told News10NBC that there was no previous contact between the family and law enforcement. The investigation continues at the home, which is still considered a crime scene.
“Right now, we’re piecing together the timeline of what has occurred there,” says Rojas. “So, we can at least let the family know. We have our victim’s assistance person. She is working with the family to help them with any resources they may need.”
Captain Rojas believes this is an isolated incident and says there’s no threat to the community.
