Yellow Alert expires this evening

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Yellow Alert remains up through sunset, but the biggest storm threat is east of Rochester and the Finger Lakes.

The first round of rain and storms blossomed just east of our area but helped to stabilize the atmosphere across the Rochester region. This means our severe threat is much lower this evening.

That being said, another batch of showers and possible thunder will try to move in this evening. There isn’t much fuel left for these storms, but there is still the chance of any storm that does develop to produce gusty winds and heavy rain, primarily south of Rochester, through about 8 p.m.

After that, any storms will drop south and we’ll be left with lots of clouds and lingering showers overnight.
