NEW YORK (WHEC) — A new report is accusing Governor Andrew Cuomo of using campaign funds to help pay for his defense against claims of sexual harassment and misconduct.

According to the New York Post, Cuomo used campaign cash to pay nearly $285,000 in bills from the lawyer defending him in the case.

Using campaign funds for legal battles is not illegal, but it does contradict what Cuomo told the public last month. In a briefing, he said he was not using campaign funds for the case at that time. But documents filed on Friday show that he has changed his stance on using the funds.

On Saturday, Cuomo met with lawyers hired by Attorney General Letitia James to handle the case.
