PEMBROKE, N.Y. — A site inspector died when he was walking in a work zone and was hit by a dump truck in Genesee County on Wednesday morning.
It happened on I-90 between the Batavia and Pembroke exits as the right lane was closed for repaving. New York State Police responded just after 5:30 a.m. Troopers say Brett Decker, 45 of Middleport, died at the scene. He worked as an inspector for Patriot Engineering & Surveying.
State Police say the truck backed up when Decker walked into the right lane and was hit. Troopers say drugs and alcohol were not a factor. They’re continuing to investigate the crash.
Genesee County Fire and EMS also responded to the crash.
