After losing primary for Buffalo mayor, Byron Brown agrees to debate India Walton

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WHEC) — Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown has agreed to a debate as he tries to win a fifth term as a write-in candidate.
Brown lost the Democratic mayoral primary in June to India Walton, a self-described democratic socialist.
WGRZ reported Tuesday that Brown agreed to a mayoral debate, but Walton’s campaign has not responded to the invitation.
The debate, hosted by NBC affiliate WGRZ, The Buffalo News, WNED-TV, and WBFO radio, is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 12.

Walton and Le’Candace Durham participated in a virtual forum ahead of June’s Democratic primary, while Brown did not, according to WGRZ.
A victory in November would put, for the first time, a woman, at the helm of New York’s second-largest city.
In announcing his write-in campaign, Brown said city residents oppose having a "radical socialist" lead the city he has governed for 15 years.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 2.
