More than 300 cyclists to cross through Rochester as part of 400-mile Erie Canal tour

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester area is about to have hundreds of new visitors Monday, and they’ll be rolling in on two wheels.

More than 300 cyclists from 34 different states will stop by the area as part of the 23rd Cycle the Erie Canal tour, which is organized by the statewide nonprofit Parks & Trails New York.

The group is expected to rest up at the Holley Canal Park in Holley before stopping again at Genesee Valley Park later Monday morning followed by an evening stop at Center Park in the Town of Perinton.

The eight-day, 400-mile tour that takes cyclists from Buffalo to Albany was held virtually last year.

The cyclists left Buffalo Sunday.
