2 arrested in connection to deadly Gates drug overdose

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Two men are facing several state and federal charges in connection to a deadly drug overdose in Gates last month.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office’s Heroin Task Force announced Wednesday the arrests of Elliot Gile, 24, of Batavia, and Jacob Daniel Pimentel-Hernandez, 21, of Rochester.

Deputies initially arrested Gile after responding to a medical call along I-490 near Route 531 on June 2. In that call, deputies say they found both Gile and a woman unresponsive inside a vehicle along the road, the woman later died of what was determined to be an overdose.

Gile was charged with DWI, DWAI, and other traffic violations, he was issued an appearance ticket.

Deputies say a follow-up investigation into where drugs came from led them to Pimentel-Hernandez after a traffic stop on June 3. Deputies charged him with a slew of charges including felony criminal sale of a controlled substance, two counts of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony criminal possession of a weapon, and two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia.

As the investigation continued, deputies say a federal complaint was filed against Pimentel-Hernandez with charges of possession with the intent to distribute and distribution of fentanyl as well as possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

The federal charges were added at the Monroe County Jail, where he is currently being held.

Overdoses have continued to be an issue in the county as investigators say they’re working with limited resources.
