OGDEN, N.Y. (WHEC) — An Ogden woman is facing several charges, including murder, in connection with her husband’s death.

Ogden Police Chief Chris Mears says Jennie A. Clark, 42, was driving her family home at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday, when she crossed into the wrong lane, striking a utility pole on Colby Street near Union Street.

A section of the pole landed on the car, killing 43-year-old Matthew D. Clark instantly. Three children under the age of 15 were also in the car at the time of the crash but were not hurt. Jennie Clark was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Mears says alcohol, speed, and reckless driving all played a role in the crash.

Clark was arrested and arraigned on charges of second-degree murder, three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, reckless driving, three counts of aggravated DWI with a child (Leandra’s Law), DWI, and several traffic infractions.

The investigation is ongoing. Mears says additional charges may be filed at a later date.

Clark is being held in the Monroe County Jail without bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
