ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester Police say a stolen car flipped on its top when it crashed into two other cars on Monroe Avenue on Wednesday morning.
Officers say the crash happened when the stolen car ran a red light at the intersection of Monroe Avenue and Alexander Street. When the car flipped in front of the City of Rochester Firehouse, multiple youths ran from the car and police took one into custody.
Officers began investigating around 12:45 a.m. when they were called to the area and spotted the stolen car on Monroe Avenue near Cobbs Hill. The car fled the area and officers didn’t chase it.
Officers say the stolen car crashed about a mile away into a car with a 54-year-old man inside, who was taken to Strong Hospital for minor injuries. It also crashed into a car with a 30-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman inside but neither were injured.
RPD is still working to determine specific charges against the youth in custody. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 911.
