First Alert Weather: Fine weather for the Fourth of July

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The main area of low pressure responsible for our heavy rain continues to churn east. A few little spokes of energy on the western edge of the system will continue to bring a few isolated showers to Western New York tonight, with a passing shower possible toward the end of fireworks time and overnight. Otherwise, expect a partly cloudy sky with comfortable temperatures in the 60s this evening, dropping into the upper 50s overnight.

Sunday’s weather looks great. We’ll see a mix of clouds and sun and highs in the mid to upper 70s. There’s only a slight chance of a stray pop-up shower during the afternoon, mainly south in the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier. Parade and fireworks weather Sunday shouldn’t be a problem.

Next week: we’ll briefly heat things up early next week, with highs up near 90 on Monday and upper 80s on Tuesday. A slow-moving cold front will knock our temperatures back into the 80s on Wednesday, followed by 70s the rest of the week. A few isolated showers or thunder may develop later on Tuesday, with a much better chance of rain and a few storms on Wednesday, and some lingering showers on Thursday. So, we will continue to add to our rainfall tallies, which are still needed for much of the area.
