Judge rules Mayor Warren’s campaign finance case will not be thrown out

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A judge has ruled that the campaign finance case against Mayor Lovely Warren and two other defendants will not be thrown out.

Warren, Rochester’s finance director, Rosalind Brooks-Harris, and Albert Jones Jr. are charged with scheme to defraud and violation of election law for allegedly using an illegal PAC to bolster her campaign fundraising during her re-election campaign in 2017.

Brooks-Harris was the treasurer of the PAC at the time and Jones was the treasurer of the campaign committee at the time.

All three have pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Attorneys for the defendants motioned to have the case dismissed based on claims of selective prosecution and insufficient grand jury proceedings. Acting Supreme Court Judge Thomas Leone denied those requests.
