ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — In consumer news, do you remember the last time you went to Best Buy? If the answer is no, you’re not alone. The electronics giant is facing some serious challenges.
Tuesday, the retailer’s leaders predicted that Best Buy will likely make less in the next quarter than first predicted. Then Wednesday the other shoe dropped. Best Buy’s stock rating was downgraded, signaling slowing electronics sales as well as stiff competition from online retailers.
And because we, as consumers, are buying many more products online, Fakespot’s announcement on Wednesday may be a welcome addition for some shoppers. Fakespot is a browser extension that helps consumers spot fake reviews on Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, eBay and Sephora. It grades product reviews, telling consumers when there’s a high likelihood that reviews are fake.
Wednesday it announced a new feature that gives consumers a list of pros and cons based on the product reviews, saving you the time of reading all the reviews when comparing products.
