ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— Here’s a Good Question about the rules for flying.

President Joe Biden recently signed a presidential proclamation bringing back COVID travel restrictions after former President Donald Trump rescinded the rules days before leaving office.

The executive action bans non-American citizens traveling from South Africa, where there’s a new more contagious, and dangerous strain of COVID. It also bans foreign travelers from 26 European countries, Ireland, the U.K., and Brazil.

A viewer named Graham wanted to know: How will permanent residents- green card holders be affected? Graham and his wife live here, but are from the U.K., his wife has been in England for several weeks and is looking to return soon.

The good news for Graham’s wife and other green cardholders who may be overseas: They are on the list of those exempt from the travel ban, but, there are other rules they have to follow. Like getting a negative test before flying to the U.S., and New York’s quarantine mandate.
