ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Here’s a Good Question about Rochester Gas & Electric.

Melissa wanted to know: "I am curious as to why RG&E still feels it is appropriate to send their meter readers to personal residences during COVID?"

Like so many other companies, RG&E did put an initial pause on certain services like indoor readings when the pandemic hit, then later resumed with safety measures in place. As we know, things are getting worse, so the company hit the pause button a second time.

An RG&E spokesperson told News10NBC:

"As the situation surrounding the coronavirus evolves, RG&E is continuing to take extra measures to ensure the ongoing safety of our customers and employees while delivering safe, reliable service. When COVID-19 cases recently began increasing across the New York State, RG&E once again paused indoor meter readings. Meter readers will continue to read outdoor meters where no direct interaction with customers is required."

If you recently had a meter reader request entrance into your home, you can call 800-743-2110.

You can also submit readings yourself, learn more about that here.
