Good Question: When will we be able to renew our passport?

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Here’s a Good Question about pandemic delays, and important documents we got in an email from a viewer named Mike- when will we be able to renew our passport?

Short answer– you can do it now.

The state department says as of this month— it’s now running routine and even expedited service for passports. The regular schedule will get your passport back in 10 to 12 weeks, you can also pay an extra 60 bucks to fast track it to get it in four to six weeks.

If you paid the extra money earlier this year to get your passport taken care of quicker, but it got caught in the pandemic backlog, you can get a refund for the 60 dollar fee.
