ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — This Good Question covers masking in schools.
It’s something many of you have asked News10NBC’s Brennan Somers about.
Kids have to wear masks nearly all day long, though there will be scheduled breaks when they can take them off. They won’t have to wear masks during lunch or when social distancing isn’t a problem.
What happens if they don’t?
While the goal for all schools is to never get to that point, even if you have to give a warning. However, there are plans for extreme cases.
Take this example from East Rochester’s reopening plans:
“Students who refuse, or repeatedly fail, to wear a mask or face covering as set forth above shall be subject to disciplinary consequences under the District’s Code of Conduct. Repeated failure to comply with these protocols could lead to suspension of the student from school and/or from District transportation."
The post from East Rochester states the Board of Education is drafting that policy to make it official. It will be talked about during a meeting on Aug. 18.
