Protesters rally outside Monroe County District Attorney’s Office

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Protesters with Free the People Roc are demanding the resignation of Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley.

The event began at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Rochester City Hall, then protesters marched to the Monroe County District Attorney’s office at 47 Fitzhugh St.

Protesters have been demanding that Doorley resign along with Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren over the death of Daniel Prude in March after he was arrested by RPD.

They are also demanding that the officers involved in Prude’s arrest be fired and charged, and for “Daniel’s Law” to be passed, which would ban police from responding to mental health calls.

The event does not have an end time listed.

Doorley released a statement in response:

“As I have stated before, I have no intention of resigning. I will continue to serve as the Monroe County District Attorney, just as I have since 2012. The people of Monroe County resoundingly re-elected me last year and I want to make it abundantly clear that I, along with the employees of the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, will continue to ensure that there will be justice, public safety, law and order in this community.”
