Man killed in Mendon crash was brother of teen killed in East Rochester crash

MENDON, N.Y. – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Rowan H. Palen, the man killed in a crash in Mendon over the weekend, was the brother of the Aquinas senior who was killed in a November 2022 crash in East Rochester.

Deputies say the car Rowan was driving went off the road around 5 a.m. Saturday, July 29, hit a tree, and then caught fire. The 20-year-old from Honeoye Falls died at the scene.

Eight months earlier, Rowan’s 17-year-old brother Clark Palen was also killed in a single-car crash. It happened on Bluff Drive near Linden Avenue in East Rochester. Police say his car also hit a tree. He was trapped inside and pronounced dead at the scene.
