Second man dies of injuries in North Clinton Avenue shooting on Saturday

UPDATE: A second man has died of his injuries after a pair of shootings on North Clinton Avenue on Saturday morning. Rochester Police say Anthony Miller-Curry, 19, has died after being hospitalized with critical injuries.

Anthony McIntyre III, 22, was also shot and killed. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital. The other three people who were shot on North Clinton Avenue are expected to survive.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Five people were gunned down in a pair of shootings on North Clinton Avenue on Saturday morning. One person has died and another is in critical condition.

Rochester Police have confirmed that one person is dead and another is in critical condition. 

Around 1 a.m. there was a large crowd gathered on North Clinton Avenue near Siebert Place and Scrantom Street. Officers heard multiple gunshots ring out from within the crowd. As police got into the crowd they found a 19-year-old man in front of the store at 759 North Clinton Avenue who had been shot in the head.

He was brought to Strong and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A second victim, a 22-year-old woman, was also shot in her torso. She was brought to Strong and is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say two occupied vehicles were hit with gunfire at the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Siebert Place. The diver’s side window was blown out, just barely missing the driver.

Officers then heard additional gunshots coming from Clinton Avenue and Scrantom Place. They found a 22-year old man shot in the head in front of 819 North Clinton Avenue. He died after getting to the hospital.

Also at 819 north Clinton Avenue, a 23-year-old man was shot in his torso — a fourth victim. He was taken to Strong in a private vehicle. Police say he is currently in stable, but life-threatening condition.

While officers were still at the Clinton Avenue crime scene, a 13-year-old girl was brought to Strong with a gunshot wound to her torso — a fifth victim. Police say her injuries are non-life-threatening.

While securing the crime scene, officers recovered a loaded handgun and an airsoft pistol from a vehicle on Siebert Place.

At about 3:00 am, NYS Troopers who were assisting at the crime scene were relieved from their post. In doing so, they turned onto Galusha St. from Oakman St. and saw a male standing along the passenger’s side of a vehicle holding a rifle. After seeing the troopers, the vehicle fled, but they were able to take the man holding the gun into custody without incident.

Chief David Smith with the Rochester Police Department and Rochester Mayor Malik Evans spoke about the violence during a press conference on Saturday morning.
