First Alert Weather: Yellow Alert discontinued and weather should only get better

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rainfall amounts during the last 24 hours measured between a .50” to as much as 1.50” in the local rain gauges.

However, the rain is ending as a cold front has swept over Rochester and has now moved into central New York. This is ushering in some much cooler and drier weather. For now, the summer heat and humidity have left us, but will return again later this week.

Tonight look for the overcast skies to slowly give way to partly cloudy skies. It will turn very cool for overnight as the temperature falls into the middle 40s. Monday will bring partial sunshine, but it will be a brisk day. You will need the jacket for the early morning with the temperature starting near 50 degrees. However, by the afternoon the mercury will warm into the lower 60s. It should be noted with a northerly wind it will remain in the 50s near Lake Ontario.

Tuesday will feature more sunshine with a nice warming trend as the temperature is expected to be closer to 70 degrees. A more southerly wind returns for Wednesday and Thursday with partial sunshine. That will push the temperature to near 75 degrees on Wednesday and closer to 80 degrees on Thursday. Look for an increased chance of a few showers and thundershowers during that time period.
