Deputies look into bomb threats against Pittsford Mendon High School and Rochester airport
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office determined that two pipe bomb threats on Wednesday were not credible.
Deputies say Pittsford Mendon High School and the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport both received bomb threats.
Deputies and a K-9 unit responded to the school and searched the building but didn’t find anything. District officials think it’s a hoax and part of the nationwide swatting trend that started last spring. All activities at Pittsford Mendon will resume on Thursday.
The bomb threat at the Rochester airport impacted passengers who were boarding and deplaning for a short time. Deputies say the threat came in around 5:20 p.m.
Deputies, airport staff, and K-9 units from Greece Police and Rochester Police swept the area and found no threats. The airport’s services are back to normal.
