GATES, N.Y. — Tinseltown in Gates as back open today after a large disturbance Sunday night shut down the theater and several businesses in the area.
Gates Police said they will do extra patrols after Tinseltown closed on Sunday because of unruly crowds.
Gates Police said that they responded to the theater around five o’clock on Sunday evening to find what they described as unruly crowds acting disrespectfully and creating a disturbance. Police say they made the decision with theater management to evacuate the theater.
According to Tinseltown’s website, the theater was offering $4 tickets for National Cinema Day.
Tinseltown has security and police said there was an officer already there for the expected large turnout. However, they did not anticipate that the crowds would move around to other businesses. Because of the large crowds, Gates Police called in additional people like MCSO to help.
They met with Tinseltown on Monday. Gates Police said they will have police do extra patrols in that area for now and over the weekend.
Police say no arrests were made.
