Yellow Alert: Isolated strong storms remain in the forecast

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Yellow Alert remains for early this afternoon as the threat for an isolated strong storm continues.

No major changes as of late this morning as the best chance for a strong storm will be areas east of Rochester. Not much action is occurring along the front to our west, and things will remain rather quiet until the front moves in locally. Storm initiation will begin across our region, specifically for areas I-390 east.

Storms won’t have that much energy to work with across our viewing area before they really get going over Central New York. However, a storm early this afternoon still have the threat for strong gusty winds and small hail. Storms likely begin to pop east of the city after noon today and make their way out of our viewing area just after 2 this afternoon. Behind the front will be a few light rain shower, but our severe threat diminishes once the front swings through. Cooler weather will swing in behind this front as well with mild and muggy conditions right now turning much cooler and comfier by the evening hours today.
